Technicians (e.g. Wind Turbine Technicians)

As a wind turbine technician, you’ll work hands-on to harness clean energy from the sea.
📝 Role
Global Wind Organisation (GWO) training prepares technicians for safe and effective work on offshore wind farms. These certifications are industry-standard and often the first step into hands-on roles. A higher education (Bachelors, Masters) is not required.
🌟 Impact
GWOs are required certifications that enable the skilled workforce needed to keep turbines running safely and reliably, directly supporting the growth of clean energy.
🎓 Education/training
Formal higher education (bachelor’s or master’s) is not required. Entry typically involves GWO-certified training courses such as Basic Safety Training (BST), Working at Heights, First Aid, Fire Awareness, and Manual Handling. Many technicians also complete vocational or technical programs in electrical, mechanical, or marine systems. Higher degrees are still eligible for these roles as long as they have the aforementioned certifications. It is possible that some companies will pay for these trainings upon hiring a technician, but generally, individuals needs to pay for their own trainings prior to application.
